Rwanda produces very high-quality coffee, which is carefully washed. The coffee is grown in volcanic soils at elevations of 1,500 – 2,200 m above sea level. It is grown and processed on small farms of less than 2.5 hectares.

As a result of the civil war, nearly all coffee plantations in Rwanda were destroyed after 1994. Fortunately, with international aid, things began to recover at the start of the 21st century. The coffee offered comes from a „private import” by the Salvatti Foundation, which helps local people meet their basic needs – some of the proceeds from coffee sales go toward education, building schools, water sources, and more.

Rwanda Gisuma grows at an elevation of 1,700 m, near Nyungwe National Park, amid abundant
African flora and fauna. The humid mountain climate, with its dynamic interplay of strong sunshine and
refreshing rain, gives the coffee sweet notes of blackberries, complemented by
refreshing hints of fresh, sweet orange. It is hand-picked, and selected cherries are wet-processed. SCA sensory score: 85.5 points
