Ethiopia Bochessa Natural

Natural Ethiopian coffees tend to have a special place in our hearts. They lean bright and fruity, but often have incredible flavor clarity and a clean finish. This coffee from the Bochessa community in the well-known Sidamo region shines with notes of blueberry, confetti cake, and lemon.

About the origin:

Bochessa is a small coffee-growing community in Ethiopia’s Sidamo region, within the mountainous Arbegona district. Coffee is the main source of income here, grown on small farms ranging from 0.1 to 2 hectares.

The local washing station was established in 2022 and works with 823 farmers. Producers bring their coffee cherries to nearby collection centers by motorcycle, horse, or donkey, where they’re then transported to the washing station for processing.

At the station, coffee is carefully washed, pulped, fermented, and dried. Lots are kept separate and tracked throughout the process to maintain quality and traceability. For this particular coffee, the cherries are sundried on raised beds for 21-27 days before being washed.
