Description

A medium-roast specialty Arabica; full-bodied with notes of honeydew melon and orange.

Peru is known for its clean, smooth coffee and its high proportion of farms certified organic and Fairtrade. This coffee is organically grown at elevations of 1,650 to 1,800 meters above sea level in the department of Cajamarca.

The “Sol y Café” Cooperative was founded in 2005 and has since grown from a group of 27 producer associations to more than 60, representing around 1,000 smallholder farming families. New prospective members must commit to producing high-quality organic coffee. In return, the cooperative supports farmers with advice on improving productivity, obtaining quality and sustainability certifications, and developing export markets. The cooperative has successfully raised the standard of its coffee and now exports more than 80% of its collective harvest. The consistently high quality of the coffee is recognized nationally and internationally.
