Description

A civilized coffee with notes of black tea, lemon, and lime; medium roast

Sidamo lies in the south of the country and is home to some of the highest coffee-growing areas in the country, situated between 1,500 and 2,200 meters above sea level. As a result, the coffees ripen slowly and develop more intense aromas. Coffees from Sidamo are known for their exceptional character and unique flavor profile, which is why they are considered among the best coffees in the world. This coffee comes from this region, more specifically from the district of Aleta Wondo. It was produced as part of a United Nations program carried out in collaboration with local and other international organizations. The program includes training 5,000 smallholder farmers in best agricultural practices such as composting, pruning, rejuvenation, and intercropping. Coffee production in Ethiopia is often a family business, so training and empowering women are important parts of the program.
