Description

A refined coffee with notes of black tea, lemon, and lime; medium roast

Located in the south of the country, Sidamo has some of the highest elevations for coffee cultivation in the country, ranging from 1,500 to 2,200 masl. As a result, the coffees ripen slowly and develop more intense flavors. Coffees from Sidamo have an extraordinary character and a unique cup profile that make them some of the best coffees in the world. This coffee comes from this region, specifically from the Aleta Wondo woreda (district). It was produced as part of a United Nations program co-managed with local and other international organizations. The program includes training 5,000 smallholder farmers in best agricultural practices such as composting, tree pruning, rejuvenation, and intercropping. In Ethiopia, coffee production is often a family business, so training and empowering women are important parts of the program.
