  • Shyira represents a new high-altitude origin for Rwandan coffee. At 1,850 m, Red Bourbon cherries ripen slowly in cool conditions, giving the coffee its clear structure and delicate tension. The washed process brings these qualities into especially sharp focus, highlighting freshness, transparency, and a clean, finely defined sweetness. As a filter coffee, Shyira is bright, juicy, and elegant, with notes of ripe stone fruit, delicate citrus freshness, and a calm, tea-like structure. As an espresso, it feels a little denser, with red fruit, soft sweetness, and a clear, dry finish. A coffee with altitude, focus, and remarkable clarity.

  • Shyira Washing Station is located in Nyabihu District in northern Rwanda, about an hour from Musanze, nestled in the highlands near the Virunga volcanic range. At 1,850 m above sea level, it is the highest known station in the country. Founded in 2017 and led by Evariste Hagumimana, Shyira is part of the Muraho Trading Co. network, which invests specifically in seed programs, farmer support, and quality. Volcanic soils, frequent fog, cool nights, and a stable microclimate allow the cherries to ripen slowly. The coffee is exported via Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Shyira is an outstanding example of the potential of Rwandan highland coffees: precise, distinctive, and expressive.
