About the experience

Many of you know us from the Embajadores café. What you may not know is that we roast the coffee we serve, and that we know which farm each lot comes from. We’ll tell you all about it during this tasting, cup in hand.

We’ll taste the three coffees from Colombia we currently have, from mildest to most intense, in three steps: dry fragrance, wet aroma, and flavor. No technical jargon: the idea is for you to leave knowing what you like and why.

Why Colombia

It’s the origin we buy from most. We’ll tell you about the history of coffee in the country, its regions, and why we keep coming back to it.

The three coffees

  • El Descanso (decaf): Tolima, small producers. It’s decaffeinated using Swiss Water: just water, temperature, and time, with no solvents. A chance to see that decaf can be specialty coffee, too. Cacao, panela, and nuts.

  • La Ilusión: Huila, small producers from San Manuel, washed. It’s our house coffee, the one you drink at the bar. Milk chocolate and cookie.

  • Balcón de la Montaña: Mauricio Duque’s farm in Neira (Caldas), Bourbon Ají, natural, at 1,850–1,920 m. Black currant, grape, and honey.

From the farm to your cup

David sources coffee in Colombia, and Rayco selects the lots right at the farms. Café de Don Manuel exports it, and Javier and Iker roast it in Irún. Alicia and Nerea will guide the tasting.

And to finish: a V60

We’ll prepare Balcón de la Montaña in a V60. If you only use an espresso machine or a moka pot at home, you’ll see how a dripper, a filter, and a scale change what’s in your cup.

What’s included?

  • Guided tasting of 3 coffees from Colombia with full traceability.
