Malawi Loves Its Coffee

Like most coffee-producing countries in Africa, Malawi has deep respect for its coffee trees, its soil, and its production methods. It seems only natural that such a precious raw material should be so carefully nurtured by local farmers, but they are also fully aware of the exceptional quality of their production.

A Region Made for Its AA Plus Coffee

Our Pamwamba AA Plus grows in Thyolo District. This region in southern Malawi, near Mozambique, is notable for its rich, clayey, and highly fertile soil. The land encourages the growth of its coffee trees, thanks to the alluvial deposits and clay that naturally cover Malawi's soil. To bring out the coffee's full aromatic potential, it is wet-processed, producing washed Arabica coffee. To ensure a consistent crop and protect their coffee trees from disease, farmers replant every seven years. This regeneration program in Malawi ensures many more years of delicious coffee.

Pamwamba AA Plus, the Gold of Malawi

Bean quality and defects are assessed using a grading scale. Not all coffees are created equal, and the AA Plus grade guarantees that we can roast high-quality beans and that you can enjoy an aromatic, delicious coffee.

The Taste of Pamwamba

What makes Pamwamba from Malawi distinctive is its taste of hazelnuts and roasted almonds, complemented by a light hint of licorice. This explosion of flavors is contained in a smooth, slightly tangy nectar. To bring out these nutty aromas, this coffee must be roasted artisanally. Only an artisan roaster can bring out the best in Pamwamba AA Plus from Malawi.
