Description

Venezuela doesn’t show up on specialty coffee shelves every day, which already makes it interesting. It comes from Municipio Sucre, Estado Portuguesa, one of Venezuela’s important coffee-producing areas. It’s grown by small producers on farms ranging from 2 to 10 hectares, at altitudes between 800 and 1,600 m. The varieties are Monte Claro and Castillo, and the coffee is washed.

On the farms, the coffee grows in the shade—not just because it sounds good on the label, but because it helps the cherries ripen more slowly and better preserves the balance of the local ecosystem.

In the cup, it’s refined, delicate, and beautifully balanced. It has fruity and floral notes, but not the kind that leap out of the cup and give you a PowerPoint presentation. They’re there and easy to notice, but they stay balanced. The acidity is fine, the body is medium, and the finish has no bitterness, astringency, or other unwelcome surprises.

Tasting notes: fruity and floral, pleasant finish, no bitter or astringent notes. Clean, balanced, and easy-drinking profile.
