Description

This coffee is produced by farmer Mesfin Dabessa's family farm in the heart of the Jimma forest. Located at an altitude of 1,900 to 2,200 meters, this forest coffee is grown in the shade using agroforestry practices and hand-picked from November to January.

This coffee bears the “Forest Coffee” label, but what does that mean?
It is 100% Made in Forest. Far from sun-drenched fields dedicated to intensive farming, these coffees are grown in their ancestral home: the forests of Ethiopia.
A “naturally organic” coffee, it grows at its own pace, without fertilizers or pesticides.
Sourced directly from the producer, this coffee is traceable down to the individual plot, and the producer is paid according to the quality of the coffee produced.
Exceptional quality: the forest's heritage infuses this coffee, creating a highly aromatic and complex cup.

Forest coffee means:
Number of shade tree species: More than 10 different species per hectare
Shade tree species found on the plot:
At least 70% native species and less than 30% introduced exotic species
Number of tree layers:
At least 3 layers

Brewing: An exceptional coffee for its sweetness and beautifully complex aromatic cup when prepared using a gentle brewing method; also very interesting as espresso for its wild, distinctive character.

Score: 85

Varieties: Arabica Heirloom

Process: Natural, then dried for 20 days on African beds

Flavor profile: A spicy (pepper), fruity (plum and grapefruit), and indulgent (hazelnut and fresh almond) coffee

Roasted on site using a gentle, slow method
