Description

Roasted coffee from La Palma, from the Huila region, a department in the southern part of the Andean region. It is currently the leading department in Colombia in both production and quality. Huila is the epicenter of the world's best specialty coffees. This is reflected in the repeated titles Huila coffee growers have won in the “Cup of Excellence” competition.

The Huila coffee-growing region is located in the southeast of the country. It has an estimated population of 1.1 million and covers 19,890 km². This region has 35 coffee-growing districts, including Garzón, Gigante, Guadalupe, and Pitalito. These districts are home to more than 84,000 families who grow Arabica coffee across more than 1,145,000 hectares, including the Castillo, Colombia, Típica, Caturra, Borbón, and Tabí varieties. Huila ranks first among the country's coffee-growing regions.

This department borders Tolima, Cundinamarca, Meta, Caquetá, and Cauca, and gives rise to rivers flowing between mountains. Its varied landscapes feature natural elements such as
volcanoes, lowlands and rolling hills, rain, and wind, with temperatures that vary according to altitude. The department is known to have different climate zones, including warm, páramo, cold, and, most commonly, temperate. But beyond its privileged geographical conditions, the commitment and dedication of Huila's producers to bean quality, with care given to every stage of the process, have helped bring out the bean's intrinsic qualities.

Cadefihuila was founded in 1963 in response to the need to market parchment coffee produced in Huila, as well as the need for small producers to come together in a cooperative entity that would represent their interests. Today, this cooperative has 3,950 members.
