More about this coffee and its producer:
Acácio José Dianin is a highly educated agronomic expert who owns and operates Fazenda Tudela Castelhana alongside his family in Monte Carmelo, Brazil. Rooted in a coffee-producing tradition that dates back to the 1940s, Acácio elevated his family's farming knowledge by earning a degree in Agronomic Engineering and later completing advanced post-graduate specializations in coffee farming and irrigation. Beyond managing his own estate, he serves as a director of AgroCafé, a prominent enterprise dedicated to agricultural innovations and advanced irrigation technology in the Cerrado Mineiro region.
The estate itself is highly technified and spans 1,265 total hectares in the heart of Minas Gerais. Approximately 750 hectares are actively dedicated to high-yield coffee cultivation, while 253 hectares are strictly preserved as a natural reserve to encourage local biodiversity and protect ecosystems. This careful land management, paired with the region's ideal climate, allows the farm to maintain an impressive average productivity rate of about 37 bags per hectare, yielding roughly 20,000 bags of coffee annually.
Acácio is a pioneer in modern farming, transforming traditional Brazilian coffee cultivation through modern farming practices. The farm relies almost entirely on automated drip systems that use "nutri-irrigation" to deliver precise blends of water and nutrients directly to the root zones of the trees. Additionally, the estate has embraced modern anaerobic fermentation processes, sealing harvested cherries in oxygen-free tanks to coax out complex, wine-like fruit notes that elevate their micro-lots to global specialty standards.
Sustainability and transparency are central to the farm's identity, featuring 100% traceability from seed to cup. Through the Cerrado Mineiro Designation of Origin program, international buyers can scan a QR code to verify the exact coordinates, elevation, harvest date, and botanical variety of their specific coffee lot.
In the cup, expect brown sugar, cocoa, roasted hazelnut, and a hint of spice, with a smooth body, low acidity, and a clean finish. Distinctive, balanced, and versatile, this is a coffee that works beautifully as espresso, as filter, or however else you decide to brew.
