Description

TASTING NOTES OF: Brownie. Molasses. Umami.

ORIGIN: Kenya
PROCESSING: Washed
REGION: Vava - Muratit

Last fall, Natalie met Vava Angwenyi at the Women Powered Coffee Summit in Mexico, where Vava was a guest speaker — and the two hit it off. This spring, Natalie and Amelia traveled to Kenya and reconnected with Vava on her home turf, where she introduced them to the incredible coffees she sources across the country. Kenya hasn't historically been a strong part of Treeline's lineup, and we're thrilled to be building this relationship from the ground up.

Through her company, Vava Coffee, Vava works directly with smallholder farmers to bring greater visibility and equity to the people behind the cup. This lot comes from the Muratit Farmers Cooperative Society in Kericho County, part of Kenya's western highlands — a region known less for global recognition than Kenya's Central Highlands, but no less suited to growing exceptional Arabica. High elevation, cool temperatures, and rich volcanic soil give smallholder farmers here everything they need to grow beautiful coffee alongside their other crops.

The cherries are fully washed, one of Kenya's most time-honored processing traditions: ripe cherries are hand-selected, pulped, fermented, washed, and carefully dried to preserve the clean, vibrant, expressive character Kenyan coffee is famous for. This coffee has deep and rich flavors of molasses and brown sugar with a lemonade acidity.

Not ready to commit? Try just a smidge with our brand new 2 oz sampler packs! 100% compostable and 100%** guaranteed to make you fall in love with a new coffee.

**100% guaranteed is more of like "I dare you not to like it" rather than a guarantee. We are just very caffeinated and confident :)
