  • This coffee comes from Finca Pampojila in Guatemala and represents the agronomic skill behind the production of modern specialty coffees in Guatemala. It is a Ruiru-11 variety, originally bred in Kenya in the 1970s in response to devastating CBD epidemics. Classic Kenyan SL varieties are dominant in its paternal lineage, giving the new cross an outstanding cup profile. It has recently begun to be grown in a few places in Guatemala—and the results are promising! This coffee is a fine example, impressively expressing the fruitiness and sweetness of its East African relatives while also taking on a distinctive character from its different terroir!

  • Finca Pampojila was founded in 1851 and has been part of Agropecuaria Atitlán—known as Agratisa—since 2012. The company operates several farms in the Guatemalan region around Lake Atitlán. On a total area of 180 hectares, it mainly grows and processes specialty lots of various varieties. The farm also experiments with different processing methods—we were most impressed by the classic Natural. We got a firsthand look at the work on the farm in February 2026, when we visited as part of our Origin Trip to Central America. This lot immediately caught our attention during a shared cupping with Edgar, Agropecuaria's Sales Manager, and Gloria, the group's QC lab manager!
