Description

When we began looking for extraordinary coffees, we thought it would be hard to improve our existing range. The arrival of San Cristobal organic coffee from the Galapagos Islands challenged our assumptions. Today, it’s one of the best-selling coffees in our online store.

An archipelago of wonderful islands

The Galapagos Islands have become a source of pride for Ecuador. This jewel of the South Pacific Ocean represents a natural asset for the country. The organic coffee that grows on these islands is wonderful.

The Galapagos, the pearl of Ecuador

Located more than 1,000 km from the mainland, the islands were formed by intense underwater volcanic activity. Even today, islets are still forming as tectonic plates move offshore in the Pacific Ocean. The islands in the east, which are older, have undergone natural erosion, while those in the west continue to grow and rise.
There are 48 islands in the Galapagos Archipelago, surrounded by islets and rocks. But its greatest potential is aquatic. A true paradise for wildlife and plant life, this jewel of Ecuador is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the marine reserve, whales, iguanas, cetaceans, sharks, and a multitude of different fish live peacefully in waters unspoiled by human pollution.

The arrival of people on the island

When the Spanish landed on the archipelago in the mid-16th century, they found a territory uninhabited by humans. But they also discovered a land teeming with lush plant life and wildlife. Whether in the skies, with exotic birds; on land, with various reptiles; or in the lagoons, with an abundance of fish, the explorers found a wide array of animals to welcome them. Charles Darwin, the famous naturalist, studied the different species there for a long time and left his mark. To this day, this is still a source of pride for the island’s residents.

San Cristobal Coffee

There is only one coffee from the archipelago, and it’s extraordinary: San Cristobal. It’s the favorite in our selection of rare beans, and we’d rather tell you right away: this is an exceptional coffee!

A Unique Coffee

Its pleasant acidity and intense aromas make San Cristobal a little-known but perfect cup. When we received our first bag from the Galapagos Islands, we roasted it immediately, and waiting 48 hours for it to degas seemed endless. Grégoire and David, the two roasting brothers, admit that San Cristobal is without a doubt their favorite espresso. To taste it, they chose this brewing method and were captivated by its complex flavor. Of course, we love coffee, and we enjoy every one of our beans and want to stand up for them. We can guarantee that no one who is curious and eager to savor it will be disappointed. We’re very confident; we won’t receive any complaints about the quality of this bag. If you don’t like it, we’re sorry, but you’ll have to stop drinking coffee…

An Organic Bean from the Ends of the Earth

Ever since we embarked on the adventure of artisan roasting, the origins of our beans have all been dream destinations. The Galapagos Islands are no exception, with their paradise beaches and protected natural environment. They also have fertile soil that produces coffee wonders.
Coffee farmers grow only San Cristobal on their farms. To make it even more extraordinary, they meet the requirements for organic certification. Their Bourbon Arabica coffee trees are more than a hundred years old and produce only 3,000 bags a year.

San Cristobal from the Galapagos Islands is an exceptional bean, rated 83/85 by the SCA, but it isn’t the only coffee in our selection that we drink. We also have:
