Description

Here we’re introducing a new arrival among our beans. People around the world enjoy coffee, but this precious plant can’t grow just anywhere. This Caribbean gem, with its complex flavor, caught our attention and found a place with French roasters.

Ideal geography for coffee plantations

The Dominican Republic shares an island with Haiti. It occupies the eastern part, covered by a mountain range, the Sierra Cordillera Centrale. South of the island, near Neyba and Barahuco, you can find historic coffee-producing areas.

A Caribbean island

Although coffee can be found in the northern part of the Cordillera Centrale, the favorable microclimate for plantations is concentrated in the south. The small valleys of the Sierra de Neyba allow coffee trees to grow steadily. Better known for its white sand beaches and welcoming hotels that host tourists from around the world, the Dominican Republic is nevertheless home to magnificent natural landscapes. Measures taken by the authorities to protect the soil help preserve the local flora and fauna.

The Dominican Republic, a land for coffee

Barahona is located in a mountainous region near the Caribbean Sea, where the climate is ideal for coffee plantations to thrive. Coffee production in the Dominican Republic benefits from rainfall throughout the year, allowing for five to six harvests annually. Sunshine and fertile soil provide everything needed to grow exceptional coffee. All the conditions are in place for coffee trees to mature quickly and flower repeatedly. All these factors are a treasure to protect for everyone involved in the industry, which is why they take care to ensure environmental standards are upheld.
