Description

Nature in Tanzania

Tanzania is a dream destination for its landscapes and its cup of black gold. East Africa is a region where animals and plants thrive.

A haven for wildlife

Tanzania is an East African country with many nature reserves. The best known may be the one in the famous Ngorongoro Crater, home to a great many wild animals. Today, residents protect elephants, lions, rhinos, and all wildlife from poaching. After considerable effort, Tanzanians are beginning to see the elephant population gradually increase. This change in policy marks a complete shift in Tanzanians’ daily lives. Today, they understand that tourism, agriculture, and the economy benefit from respecting nature.

Tanzania’s landscape

Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, is in Tanzania. Rivers flowing into the Indian Ocean irrigate the country’s central plateaus. Numerous lakes add to the distinctive character of this country, which has preserved most of its wild coastline. The soil is rich in valuable minerals, but they are not always mined. Tanzania’s extraordinary wildlife and plant life remain its greatest asset, but the country is so untouched that traveling from one region to another can be difficult. From the perspective of a European who favors productivity, this mindset might seem puzzling, but those familiar with the African continent understand this way of relating to nature.

Intense coffee

Coffee cultivation benefits from the country’s natural environment. Tanzania’s plant life is a paradise for growing raw materials. First consumed after the discovery of Kaffa, Tanzania now exports its beans—but also drinks plenty of coffee itself!

Soils that bring out the best in coffee

Surrounded by mountains, Lake Victoria, and the Indian Ocean, this land produces coffee with exceptionally powerful aromas. East Africa is a vast coffee-growing region, and Tanzania, like its neighbors, places great importance on coffee cultivation. Agriculture is a significant part of Tanzania’s economy. Two-thirds of Tanzanian workers are employed in the fields, and coffee exports provide them with a substantial source of income. Tanzanians value passing down traditional farming methods, and the boom in the pure Arabica and single-origin coffee market allows them to make a decent living from their work.

Our favorite

We chose an AA Bourbon Arabica from the northeastern region, rated 80/82 by the SCA. This bean has a pronounced acidity typical of African nectars, along with floral and fruity notes. Few people can resist its lingering finish. These aromas fill your nose as soon as you open the bag.
We offer you this full-bodied, lively, and intense cup; it may take a few tries to get acquainted with and appreciate this unique coffee. It is a true favorite among our entire team. At the various events we attend throughout the year, Tanzanian coffee has quickly become a hit with all the coffee aficionados.
This bean is universally loved for its brewing versatility. It is delicious as espresso or made with a moka pot or French press. Adding milk or sugar would be sacrilege. We are still trying to offer it in capsules this year.
This tasting bean will leave an impression.

Tips for using a French press:

  • Use the number of scoops appropriate for your coffee maker
  • Choose a medium or coarse grind, depending on your filter
  • Pour in steaming water up to the indicated line
  • Stir
  • Wait 6 minutes
  • Press the plunger
  • Enjoy
