This exceptional Gesha from Alta Clara farm has an elegant, layered flavor profile with distinct notes of guava, cherry, and muscovado sugar. It joined our selection thanks to Adam Laska—the co-owner of our roastery—who won it at the La Mejor Taza de Nariño auction after previously serving as a judge in the competition to select the region’s best coffees.
This coffee has an exceptionally refined character that beautifully showcases the potential of Nariño’s high-altitude farms. We especially recommend it for pour-over brewing.

Description
Guava, cherry, and muscovado sugar come through in the cup. The profile is exceptionally elegant and multidimensional, full of juicy fruit, deep sweetness, and a creamy texture that lingers on the palate. This Gesha has remarkable clarity and complexity, and is made for pour-over brewing, where each sip reveals another layer of flavor.
This character comes from both the terroir of the Nariño region and Laureano Gómez’s uncompromising approach. A former teacher, he decided to leave his job at school to breathe new life into his neglected family farm, Alta Clara. Today, together with his brother, he runs a small, just-four-hectare farm at elevations of up to 2,400 meters above sea level, where every lot is produced with meticulous attention to detail. Multi-stage anaerobic fermentation and slow drying bring out the sweetness, complexity, and elegance for which the best Colombian Geshas are known.
This coffee joined our selection in a special way. It was chosen from among the region’s best coffees at the La Mejor Taza de Nariño competition, then won at auction by Adam Laska, co-owner of KAFAR, who took part in the event as one of the judges. This isn’t a coffee you pick from a catalog. It’s a limited lot with a story of courage, years of hard work, and a producer who has proved that passion and persistence can bring a small family farm into the ranks of the best in all of Nariño.
