Description

Limited Edition • Final Roast

Honduras El Amate is a smooth, sweet micro-lot defined by lush peach, stone fruit, and a creamy caramel finish. Sourced from the volcanic Lempira region, this meticulous washed lot opens with inviting cherry aromatics and fresh coffee pulp, leading into a juicy medley of stone fruits lifted by bright red apple acidity. With its velvety, creamy body and soft finish, it delivers an impeccably balanced coffee experience from first sip to finish.

The Tasting Profile Flavour Peach & Stone Fruit Aroma Cherry & Coffee Pulp Finish Soft Caramel Acidity Red Apple Crisp Cupping Score 84.25 / 100

A Legacy Cultivated Beneath the Amate Tree

High in the mountains of Lempira, in the community of La Granadilla, sits Finca El Amate. When the family of producer José Eduardo Ardon Melgar began developing this land in 2008, it contained not a single coffee plant. Just one ancient Amate tree, already 40 years old, stood watch over the volcanic hillside.

The family cleared the land, built the farm from scratch using their own resources, and named it after the sentinel tree that was there first. Today José oversees 19 hectares of active production. A curated mix of varietals thrives in rich clay-loam soil at around 1,450 metres altitude, creating a cool climate where cherries ripen slowly and develop intense flavour complexity.

Exceptional Specialty Quality

Achieving a specialty grade cupping score of 84.25/100, this washed micro-lot stood out on our cupping table for its remarkable clarity. The traditional washed process maximises pure regional character, producing exceptionally clean fruit flavours, lively acidity, and an elegant mouthfeel that rewards every brew.

Brewing Recommendations

Get the best out of this washed single origin with these extraction suggestions:

1 Espresso with Milk: The creamy round body and soft caramel sweetness cut smoothly through steamed milk, creating a balanced, comforting flat white or latte. 2 Filter & Pour-Over (V60 or Chemex): A steady, patient pour draws the delicate peach, stone fruit, and crisp red apple notes forward for a bright, refreshing black coffee. 3 Grind Fresh Daily: Grinding your beans immediately prior to extraction preserves the delicate stone fruit oils and sweet caramel aromatics.
