Description

Limmu Kossa Coffee – Oromia, Ethiopia

From the Oromia region, the historic birthplace of coffee, comes this lot from Limmu Kossa, produced by Giday Berhe. In western Ethiopia, coffee trees grow in fertile soil and under an ideal climate that allows the cherries to ripen slowly and evenly, enhancing the aromatic complexity characteristic of Ethiopian coffee.

The variety is Heirloom (Heriloom), a name encompassing Ethiopia’s traditional native varieties. These native genetics yield intensely fruity, floral profiles with great sensory richness, preserving the pure identity of Ethiopian coffee.

The process is washed, a technique carried out with great precision in Ethiopia. It includes immediate pulping after hand-picking, controlled fermentation, and washing with clean water to enhance clarity and definition in the cup. Drying on raised African beds ensures consistency and preserves the bean’s aromatic expression.

In the cup, the profile is vibrant and expressive. Notes of papaya stand out, bringing ripe tropical sweetness, combined with the fruity intensity of açaí for a juicy, deep impression. The profile is balanced by a base of dark chocolate, adding structure and an elegant finish. It’s a dynamic cup with a pronounced fruity character and good definition.

It has a medium body, bright acidity, and a clean, lingering aftertaste. Ideal for filter methods that bring out its tropical nuances and aromatic complexity, it also makes a modern, fruity espresso for those who enjoy more intense profiles.

Scoring 84 points, this Limmu Kossa represents the essence of contemporary Ethiopian coffee: tradition, genetic biodiversity, and authentic sensory expression.

Available in a 250 g size, it’s an invitation to discover one of the most iconic origins in the world of coffee.
