About Ken Bon Trading

Ken Bon Trading is a family coffee business led by mother and daughter Aisha and Danya Bon, whose connection to Ethiopian coffee began in Jimma.

Long before Ken Bon Trading was established, Aisha’s family was involved in coffee processing in Jimma, operating local processing sites surrounded by the region’s forest-covered highlands. Coffee was part of everyday family life, and Aisha grew up knowing the work behind the crop as well as the people who produced it.

More than eight years ago, Aisha began exporting Ethiopian coffee and spices internationally through Keko Coffee. As the business expanded, her daughter Danya joined her. Together, they founded Ken Bon Trading, bringing a new generation into a family business built around coffee, relationships, and a close connection to the places where their coffees are grown.

Today, Aisha and Danya work with smallholder producers across some of Ethiopia’s best-known coffee-growing areas, including Guji, Yirgacheffe, Lekempti, and Jimma. Their work begins at the producer level, where carefully harvested cherries are brought to processing sites and sorted before being naturally processed and sun-dried. The goal is simple: to preserve the character of each coffee and the distinct qualities of the region it comes from.

That connection to the communities behind the coffee is important to the Bon family. Ken Bon has helped support local schools and, more recently, funded a clean-water well in Huraga, Guji. These projects reflect a relationship with coffee-growing communities that extends beyond buying and exporting coffee.

For Aisha and Danya, Ken Bon Trading is a continuation of something that began with their family in Jimma: a life built around Ethiopian coffee, the people who grow it, and the places that give each coffee its character.
