The story of Cruiser begins with a simple question: Which coffee do cyclists most enjoy drinking before or after a ride?

Cyclists are among the most loyal café guests in the world. Whether it's a morning ride, a Sunday outing, or coffee after 120 kilometers, an espresso is often simply part of the experience. That's why we conducted a small market research survey among many cyclists to find out which tasting notes they especially appreciate and would like in their cup.

The result was as intriguing as it was inconclusive. Almost exactly half love deep chocolate and nut notes. The other half prefers vibrant fruit and berry notes. So there was no clear consensus.

That's exactly where the idea for Cruiser came from. A coffee that brings both worlds together in a single, balanced cup, with the aim of delighting as many cyclists as possible.

For this blend, we chose a special coffee from Roberto Mata Naranjo. Cruiser comes from Finca La Pachuca in the Valle de Dota region of Costa Rica and grows at an altitude of 1,800 meters. The varieties grown there are Caturra and Yellow Catuai.

Roberto Mata has almost 50 years of experience in coffee cultivation and processing. Thanks to his experience, his closeness to nature, and his love for his homeland, he has been considered a pioneer of sustainable coffee cultivation in harmony with nature for decades. Together with his wife Doris and their five children, he founded a small family business and now processes his coffees at his own micromill right behind his home.

All the cherries for this coffee are hand-picked when perfectly ripe. They are carefully sorted and cleaned the same day. The cherries then rest in a tank overnight before being selected again the following day and then dried directly on raised beds in a greenhouse. They are turned regularly to ensure even drying. The drying process takes around 21 days in total.

The result is an especially smooth, dense, and sweet coffee with plenty of character. Cruiser impresses with notes of brown sugar, nougat, nuts, and stone fruit, complemented by deep chocolate notes, macadamia, and a wonderfully soft, almost chewy texture.

We are proud to present this exceptional coffee, which is not only the result of careful work and extensive experience but also a tribute to everyone who appreciates good espresso before and after a ride.
