We’re thrilled to kick off 2026 with something truly special: a pair of twins (fraternal!) that are anything but ordinary.

The Café des Anges range is, by nature, always singular… and always produced in very limited quantities. The reason is simple: when dry green coffee rests in a barrel, it absorbs every last trace of moisture remaining inside. The result? Each barrel can only be used once for this kind of aging. Yes, it’s a little extreme—but that’s exactly what makes these coffees so unique.

We wrapped up 2025 with our second edition, L’Encantada Armagnac, and we were already thrilled with the result. But we’re also lucky to be surrounded by wonderful friends who are just as committed to exciting experiments… and we’re definitely not the kind to turn down a new adventure.

After a conversation with our equally curious friends at the craft brewery La Braxeenne, we had the chance to get our hands on a beautiful, freshly emptied barrel—and try an entirely new coffee experiment. That’s how we’re able to kick off 2026 by offering you two Cafés des Anges at the same time. Read on for the details of each edition:

Description

Here’s a quick look at our two offerings:

**Second edition – L’Encantada Armagnac
The roast is superb. For this edition, we chose our coffee from Burundi, a denser bean that generally shines with a lighter roast. But its time in a Gnac Armagnac barrel truly transformed it.

The final profile falls in the medium-dark roast range, with gentle acidity and a remarkable body. The aromatic signature of Armagnac is immediately apparent on the nose. On the palate, the coffee is wonderfully round and full-bodied, delicately imbued with warm Armagnac notes. Dark chocolate flavors, hints of honey, and elegant notes of grape and Armagnac on the finish complete the picture.

Incredibly easy to drink and unmistakably “special,” this limited-edition Café des Anges is not to be missed.

**Third edition – La Braxeenne Stout / Whisky
A bold and exciting coffee, developed with the invaluable support of La Braxeenne. This coffee spent a little over two weeks aging in a freshly emptied stout barrel. Having already tasted coffee aged in a stout/bourbon barrel, our expectations were high… and this barrel did not disappoint. The resulting aromatic complexity is simply remarkable.

For this edition, we opted for an Indonesian coffee, generally roasted a little darker and naturally spicier, so it would pair harmoniously with the richness of the barrel. And this is no ordinary barrel: it’s already lived several lives. First a wine barrel, then a whisky cask (Maison Castan – 81), before being adopted by La Braxeenne for brewing their Stout Whiskey (edition no. 7). Wine, then whisky, then stout… and finally coffee. What a journey!

The result is a medium-roast coffee with intense aromatics, revealing notes of ripe cherry and grape, delicate hints of whisky, and a soft, silky finish with touches of anise. Complex, bold, and unmistakably indulgent, this is a coffee that makes an impression.

And if you’re a true coffee lover (or a happy little coffee geek ☺️), why not go for the twin pack and taste these two Cafés des Anges side by side? Two radically different profiles, one shared passion for experimentation, and a truly unique tasting experience.
