Description

With over 200 million inhabitants and a total area of approximately 8 million km2
Brazil is the largest country in South America. Along with soybeans, sugarcane, steel, aluminum, and other goods, coffee is one of the country’s most important exports.
Brazil is the world’s largest coffee producer, ahead of countries such as Colombia and Indonesia. Arabica beans are grown predominantly in Brazil, while only a small share of approximately 20% is Robusta. This special lot coffee comes from Fazenda Dutra in Manhuaçu, Minas da Mata (the eastern growing region of Minas Gerais in Brazil), founded in 1930 and honored with multiple awards. Nestled among gently rolling hills, lakes, and fertile farmland, Fazenda Dutra offers excellent growing conditions. In 1999, brothers Ednilson Alves Dutra and Walter Cesar Dutra inherited the plantation from their father and have since grown rare coffee varieties there as single varieties. The coffee cherries are harvested and processed entirely by hand. The Dutras place just as much importance on environmental and nature conservation as they do on fair treatment of plantation workers. Housing, electricity, and schooling for employees’ children are provided.
