Description
Wild blackberry, asian pear
butter caramel, cocoa finish
Twi’ha is a small family coffee farm operated by third generation coffee farmer Armando Gomez, his wife and their eldest son. The farm is located at high elevation in Central America’s highest non volcanic mountain range of Sierra de los Cuchumatanes in the historic Mam village of Todos Santos Cuchumatán, Huehuetenango. The village is a deeply traditional Mayan community which speaks a Mayan language of Mam, observes the Mayan 260 day calendar and continues to wear traditional clothing. In the Mam language, Twi’ha means, ‘spring of water’.
Twi’ha produces exceptional quality coffee in the washed method traditional to Guatemala. The farm grows Bourbon, Caturra and Typica varieties from 1,750 and 1,950 meters above sea level. Coffee is grown under the shade of native Chalum, Sauco, Mispero and banana trees.
We love the rich and dynamic profile of this coffee. Prominent flavors of wild blackberries and crisp asian pear are supported by a rich caramel sweetness. This coffee has a silky mouthfeel and a perfectly clean finish leading to a sweet and lingering cocoa aftertaste. From the mountains of Cuchumatanes, please enjoy Twi’ha.
