Shakiso Natural – Ethiopia

We're excited to introduce our latest coffee: Shakiso Natural from Ethiopia.

This special coffee comes from the renowned Guji region in southern Ethiopia, specifically the Woreda of Odo Shakiso. At an altitude of around 2,000 meters, coffee grows here with a distinctive character shaped by its origins.

Quality and sustainability in harmony

This coffee reflects not only high standards of quality but also a genuine commitment to sustainability. Abder Malik Keder runs not only a coffee farm locally, but also a nursery for local farmers. Coffee plants and shade trees are grown there to promote sustainable agroforestry. This protects the soil and biodiversity—and also noticeably improves the quality of the coffee.

Careful processing for a distinctive aroma

Coffee cherries are hand-picked by farmers from surrounding villages. Only perfectly ripe cherries are accepted, then sorted twice. They are then gently dried on raised beds and rested in well-ventilated rooms—a process that takes time but gives the flavors depth and clarity.

A memorable taste experience

Shakiso Natural delights with complex fruit notes—blueberry, honey, jasmine, and a pleasant hint of citrus come together in an intense, clean-tasting cup. What you taste in the cup is the result of hard work, natural diversity, and deep respect for the product.

The Roast

Shakiso – Ethiopia in the Roaster

At our roastery, we process only carefully selected coffees that are sourced sustainably and fairly. After all, without a healthy environment and satisfied farmers, there can be no good coffee for our customers and guests.

We gently roast all our coffees in our 15-kilo drum roaster at around 200 °C to create the best possible taste experience. We draw on all our experience to find the perfect balance between the coffee cherry's fruity nuances and wonderful aromas during roasting.

Only when we're happy with the result does the coffee reach your hands and cups.
