Description

A medium- to dark-roasted Arabica coffee with notes of chocolate and tropical fruit.

The Huehuetenango region lies near Guatemala's border with Mexico. The coffee is grown at elevations between 1,200 and 1,700 meters above sea level, where the average temperature is 23°C and humidity is 75%.

The coffee plants are protected from frost by the dry, hot winds from Mexico's Tehuantepec Plain. The coffee cherries are harvested between December and April. The SHB (“Strictly Hard Bean”) classification for this coffee indicates that it was grown at an elevation above 1,350 meters. Beans grown at high elevations are “harder” (denser) and are therefore considered premium quality.
