Description
This coffee is the result of the “Huellas de mujer” project, an initiative by the Valle Alto cooperative that brings together 42 women coffee producers from Peru’s Amazon region.
We’ve been wanting to highlight plots managed by women for a while. Women are much less likely to hold leadership positions in the coffee industry. So we chose this washed process, which shines in espresso, with notes of panela and a very smooth cup.
- Education: training women in coffee cultivation, leadership, sales, and marketing.
- Additional income: the producers roast and sell their own coffee locally, giving them additional income and allowing them to control more than 100% of the supply chain.
- Local consumption: increase it by selling high-quality roasted coffee within their community.
Currently, the cooperative is working to fund its own roaster and other equipment.
