Description

This coffee is grown in Jamaica’s Blue Mountains, one of the world’s most renowned coffee-growing regions. Rising to elevations of up to 2,000 meters, these mountains, located between the parishes of Saint Mary, Portland, Saint Thomas, and Saint Andrew, benefit from fertile volcanic soil, annual rainfall of 850 to 1,050 mm, and an average annual temperature of 26°C. The steep terrain and shade-grown cultivation encourage the cherries to ripen slowly, contributing to aromatic complexity. The quality of Blue Mountain coffee is strictly monitored by the Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority (JACRA), which oversees each lot before export. The cherries are hand-picked, then the beans are washed using “aqua pulpers” to remove the mucilage before natural drying and meticulous hand sorting. The coffee is then packed in 15 kg barrels to ensure optimal preservation. Made primarily from Typica (95%) and Geisha High Bred (5%), this washed Grade 1 Arabica offers a wonderfully smooth cup profile, a balanced, creamy body, and delicate acidity. We chose a medium roast to bring out its rich, rounded character, with notes of cashew, cane sugar, and biscuit, supported by a lovely lingering finish.
