Hambela is a celebrated coffee growing region in Ethiopia known for its sweet, fruit-forward coffees. Bursting with flavors of blackberry, this coffee is no exception.
Grown at high elevations in fertile soils, the cool overnight temperatures encourage slow cherry maturation, contributing to the sweetness and complexity found in this offering. Smallholder farmers in the area selectively harvest and deliver their coffee to the Hambela washing station for natural processing. The fruit is left on the seed to dry, with careful turning and monitoring to promote even drying and preserve quality. The extended drying process contributes to pronounced sweetness and fruit flavors.
On the cupping table, we tasted the rich jamminess of Blackberry, a floral note of Orange Blossom, and Shortbread sweetness throughout.

Bodelu was founded in 2018 with the idea of building strong farmer relationships through producer training and efforts to process farmer lots separately wherever possible.
