The oroverde cooperative supports members affected by natural disasters, medical emergencies, and deaths; they help one another with logistical and other related matters. It also supports its members in many ways as they navigate the challenges of organic farming.

The cooperative was founded on December 7, 1999, by 56 coffee producers in the province of Lamas, San Martin region. They have succeeded in bringing together two cultures: that of the Andes and that of the Amazon. Its members are 75% from the Chanca Lamista ethnic group and 25% migrants, with a rich cultural diversity and traditions in coffee and cacao cultivation.

Since 2010, the cooperative has been working on a socio-ecological project under the motto „Producing with Joy“, restoring degraded areas by planting 2 million native trees. They have recognized this as a way to mitigate climate change and create favorable conditions for the regeneration of flora and fauna.
