“Historically, we inherited this farm from my husband's family. We are the fourth generation of coffee producers.
Our approach focuses on rigorous control of operations at the plant level (nutrition, hygiene, etc.) and post-harvest processes to improve quality. We are also very mindful of the sustainability of our processes.” - Aristides Botrel
Fazenda Monjolo is located in Três Pontas, framed by the Three Peaks mountain, a major landmark that gave the city its name. The region is rich in water resources and offers excellent conditions for growing coffee, with elevations of around 1,000 m and a mild climate.
The current owner, Aristides Botrel, is heir to a rich coffee-growing tradition. The Botrel family was among the first to plant coffee on these lands in the late 19th century.
An agronomist who grew up on a farm, Aristides has developed an in-depth knowledge of coffee plants, helping push the boundaries of agricultural practices and performance and continually modernizing the farm to keep up with the latest technologies. To this day, he oversees all field operations and visits nearly all the coffee plots every day.
Since 2010, greater attention has been paid to post-harvest processing, including the installation of new facilities to continuously and consistently improve quality. This has allowed Monjolo to expand its range of coffees and reach different international markets.
