Description

Roasted to order, ships within 24 hours of roasting

Milk chocolate first, Fuji apple in the middle, hazelnut at the finish.

El Salvador El Borbollon is a washed Red Bourbon from Eduardo Alvarez's farm in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec range of Santa Ana, grown at 1,400 to 1,500 metres. Roasted medium-dark in Kuala Lumpur, it leads with milk chocolate, carries the crisp sweetness of Fuji apple through the middle and finishes on hazelnut. Low acidity, full body. It drinks easy black and it works in milk, on espresso or filter.

One Farm in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec Range

Finca El Borbollón sits in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountains of Santa Ana, one of El Salvador's main coffee regions, where volcanic soil and cool nights at 1,400 to 1,500 metres slow the cherries as they ripen. Eduardo Alvarez runs the farm. The trees are Red Bourbon, the old Salvadoran standard, sweet and round in the cup.

The cherries are fully washed and dried, then packed in GrainPro for the trip to Kuala Lumpur. This is the 2026 harvest, and it scored 82.75 on the cupping table. A clean lot that takes a medium-dark roast and keeps its apple. It came to us through Falcon Coffees.

Why Coffee Lovers Choose This Lot

  • One named farm, one producer. Eduardo Alvarez's El Borbollón, with the farm's name on the lot.
  • Red Bourbon, washed. The old Salvadoran variety, washed for a clean, sweet cup.
  • Medium-dark for milk and espresso. Chocolate and hazelnut up front, apple underneath, acidity kept low.
  • Roasted to order in KL. Roasted for your order and shipped within 24 hours of roasting.

Brewing Recommendations

Espresso: 1:2 | 18g in, 36g out | 26–30 seconds
Filter: 1:15 | 18g coffee, 270ml water at 92°C

Made for espresso and milk drinks. On filter, grind a touch coarser than usual so the chocolate stays soft rather than heavy.

Freshness

Roasted to order in Kuala Lumpur, with the roast date printed on the bag. Beans taste best from 5 to 7 days after roasting and stay good to about day 30, and the whole window is yours.
