El Renacer - Colombia (Decaffeinated)

This is an Omni-roasted coffee which means it is roasted to highlight the flavour of the coffee and will work well in all brew methods.

El Renacer is a decaffeinated coffee composed of carefully selected lots from multiple producers in the Quindio region. Using coffees grown at higher altitudes and with higher acidity compensates for the characteristic sweetness of decaffeinated coffee. It is a coffee with a very mild acidity, a very round body, and very easy to drink with milk, in addition to having a slight aftertaste of golden apple that will also delight the most demanding coffee drinkers.

Decaf Process

This decaf method uses a natural compound derived from sugarcane to gently remove caffeine from coffee beans.

The green coffee is first steamed to open up the bean structure. It’s then washed with ethyl acetate, a naturally occurring substance found in fruits and sugarcane, which selectively binds to caffeine. Once the caffeine is removed, the beans are steamed again to eliminate any remaining traces of the compound.

Because the process is mild and naturally derived, it preserves the coffee’s original flavour and sweetness, often resulting in a cup that tastes clean, balanced, and very close to a fully caffeinated coffee.
