- Decaf Coffee: The Swiss Water Process is a taste-driven, 100% chemical-free decaffeination process that delivers for our decaffeinated coffee that is 99.9% caffeine-free while protecting the unique origin characteristics and flavor. Most other processes use chemical solvents, like Methylene Chloride or Ethyl Acetate, to decaffeinate coffee beans.
The medium-roasted decafs that we offer always appear darker than regular medium-roast coffee due to the Swiss Water Process. Water is used to remove the caffeine, which darkens the color of the bean. Because of this, all of our medium roast decaf coffee appears almost to be a dark roast, but they are medium roasted. You will not find this with other decafs that do not use water but use chemicals to remove the caffeine. We believe that the Swiss Water Process decaf coffees are superior in taste and also because they avoid the use of chemicals.
