Colombia – Finca El Faldon

Finca El Faldon is owned by Luis Felipe Leguizamo Giraldo and his brother, both active members of Asociación Los Naranjos in Huila, Colombia. In addition to producing specialty coffee, they support nearby coffee farmers in improving quality and strengthening coffee production in their community. In 2011, the farm received international recognition after taking first place in the Cup of Excellence, with a record price of $45 per pound.

Huila is located in southwestern Colombia, between the Central and Eastern Cordilleras of the Andes, around the Magdalena Valley. The region’s wide range of elevations creates diverse microclimates and different harvest cycles. This contributes to some of Colombia’s most complex and expressive coffees.

The careful cultivation and processing at Finca El Faldon highlight the clarity and structure characteristic of coffees from Huila’s high-altitude areas. This coffee reflects both the region’s unique terroir and the family’s longstanding dedication to quality.

Here’s how we prepare this coffee!

The perfect espresso recipe depends on many factors: machine, grinder, water, filter basket, beans, etc. At our bar in The Hague, we usually start with this recipe:

19 grams of coffee for an output of 45 grams of espresso (a double espresso).

We start with a brew time of 25 seconds.
