The joy of working with African coffees

Our partnership with Kachipapa farm in Zambia is part of our commitment to working with exceptional coffees. Africa, this vast continent, knows how to cultivate coffee while preserving natural, ancestral methods. The quality of the soil and climate is not everything; the expertise of the people at farms like Kachipapa helps preserve the excellence of their coffees. In both East and West Africa, several projects have been created to grow extraordinary coffee trees, including at Kachipapa farm and Mubuyu farm. When we choose to partner with producers, we care about improving their quality of life. Kachipapa farm has therefore been able to develop extensive health facilities on its property. Thanks to the dividends generated by the coffee trade, the local community has access to a school and a clinic.

Kachipapa farm in Zambia produces a highly aromatic coffee

Today, we’re delighted to introduce this little aromatic gem. We hope you’ll be captivated by its enchanting flavor.

The quality of Arabica from Kachipapa farm

This coffee is grown in Zambia’s Serenje region, at an altitude of 1,450 meters. After improvements were made to support irrigation across these red-soil fields, the land began to benefit fully from the abundant rainy season, which lasts from November to April. To retain moisture in the soil during the hot months, generous amounts of straw are spread over it. Recently, production expanded by 20 hectares, bringing the total area under coffee cultivation to more than 60 hectares. The way the green beans are prepared is very important and follows strict processes. Picking and sorting are done exclusively by hand. This method makes it possible to select the best beans. The washed coffee from Kachipapa farm is naturally sun-dried.

The best way to enjoy it

The characteristics of this exceptional bean promise an outstanding aromatic experience:

  • Grade AA
  • SCA score: 84/85
  • Arabica SL 28 and Catimor
  • Harvested from May to July

Zambian Kachipapa farm coffee is a marvel, with a balanced body. Its floral aroma and fruity flavors make for a delicious cup. Notes of blackcurrant, orange, and berries come through. Enjoying Kachipapa ends with a delicate, lingering finish of sweet caramel. This coffee pairs beautifully with a rich pastry or fruitcake.
