BUESACO, COLOMBIA

Tangerine, Maple, Hazelnut

One of the best parts of finding a coffee we love from Colombia is that we often get two harvests in a year. Lucky for us, that is true of Bueasaco, which has become a core part of our single origin offerings over the last two years.

Originating from the elevated terrains of Buesaco Nariño in southern Colombia, this captivating coffee is cultivated at an average altitude of over 2,000 meters. The relatively young volcanic soil and Buesaco’s unique geographic and climatic conditions help provide an excellent space for coffee to flourish – resulting in a well-balanced profile, nice acidity, and sweet taste.

Buesaco starts with the juiciness of Tangerine, leading into the sweetness of Maple Syrup, and finishes with the mild nuttiness of Hazelnut. Buesaco will satisfy both the single-origin enthusiast and the “just get the coffee in me” type of person!

PARTNERSHIP & REGION

Buesaco sits in the Nariño department of southern Colombia, a region known for its high elevation and young volcanic soil, two things that give the coffee its clean, well-rounded character. We’ve carried Buesaco as a returning single origin for two years now, and it’s one of the few coffees on our list where we get a fresh harvest twice in one year.

FAVORITE BREW METHOD

We find that brewing washed coffees from South America with a Kalita Wave 155 brings out the best of their crisp acidity and chocolatey sweetness. TYPEKalita Wave 155RATIO1:18COFFEE19gGRINDMedium-Coarse, like kosher saltWATER TEMP201FWATER350g total: 50g bloom + three 100g pulsesBREW TIME3:00
