BRAZIL Fazenda Guariroba »Curated by Champions«

In our third edition of the “Curated by Champions” line, we’re presenting our Brazil Fazenda Guariroba coffee beans, with notes of lemongrass, white peach, and coriander seed.

The green coffee comes from Fazenda Guariroba in the Campo das Vertentes region of Minas Gerais, run by Gabriel Lamounier Vieira and Elisa Paiva Lamounier. The two producers have a long family tradition of growing coffee. Even before the farm was established in 1939, the patriarch João Ferreira Carneiro was already cultivating coffee on the land in the 19th century. Since then, the farm has grown into one of Brazil’s most respected specialty coffee farms. Gabriel and Elisa won the Cup of Excellence tasting competition in 2016 and have placed among the top five twice in the Coffee of the Year competition.

This Arabica coffee of the Pink Bourbon variety is grown at an elevation of 1,050 meters, processed using double fermentation with yeast, and then sun-dried on African beds. It comes to us through Luis and Niklas of Ocafi, with whom we’ve worked for more than four years. Mats Weller visited them in Brazil in 2022 on a coffee trip.

For our Champions line, we store the green coffee frozen and roast it in small batches on our modern Roest coffee roaster to bring out each coffee’s full potential.
