In the border region with El Salvador, the members of the COMBRIFOL cooperative grow their organic coffee. Most belong to the Indigenous Lenca people and farm plots of 1 to 4 hectares. Alongside coffee, they also grow corn, beans, and fruit. The political history of the border region still has a major impact on people's lives. It was not until 1992 that a court separated this area from El Salvador and assigned it to Honduras. As a result, the Honduran government feels little responsibility for the region, and even the basics of everyday life are often lacking. We paid $4.25/lb FOB for this harvest.

In February 2023, 2025, and 2026, Kira visited Honduras and was very impressed with COMBRIFOL. The cooperative is very family-oriented and well organized, and its wet and dry mills could be straight out of a picture book. The warmth and friendliness of the members and employees inspired Kira to source all of Loppo's green coffee from Honduras from this cooperative in the future. Since COMBRIFOL currently produces only 6 containers of coffee, our requirement of around 120 bags can also make a positive impact.

Flavor-wise, this coffee has notes of cocoa, caramel, orange, peach, and almond. It has a very creamy body, harmonious acidity, and a honey-sweet taste. This makes it a beautifully balanced filter coffee and a medium-bodied espresso.
