Description

FARM HISTORY

Ayah is sourced from smallholder farms around Takengon, the highland town on the shores of Lake Laut Tawar in Central Aceh. Takengon is the heart of the Gayo Highlands, where coffee is central to life for the Gayo people.

Most families farm small plots under shade trees, often alongside other crops, in rich volcanic soil. Cherries are hand-picked and pulped on the farm, then partially dried and hulled while the beans are still moist.

This is Giling Basah, Sumatra’s signature wet-hulling process, and it gives the cup its heavy body, low acidity, and earthy, spiced depth.

CypherED Profile

Ayah means “father” in Bahasa Indonesia. This coffee has that same steady, familiar warmth. It’s a full-bodied Sumatran espresso with a deep, grounding character. Dark chocolate gives it weight, and pipe tobacco adds smoky, savory depth. A brown sugar sweetness rounds out the finish.

It’s grown by smallholder farmers around Takengon in the Gayo Highlands and wet-hulled the traditional Sumatran way. The result is a bold, comforting shot that holds its own in milk and is just as good on its own.
