PAPUA NEW GUINEA Kindeng Espresso

Our coffee beans Papua New Guinea Kindeng taste fruity and sweet, with notes of cherry, baking chocolate and mango.

The naturally processed green coffee comes from the Kindeng Dry Mill, a processing station in Kindeng, located in Papua New Guinea’s Western Highlands. Around 1,500 farmers bring their cherries from small farms with 1–2 hectares of cultivated land to Kindeng Mill, where they are processed. With its high elevations, dense forests and clay soils, the region is perfect for growing coffee and tea. The coffee plants for this lot are grown around the communities of Arufa and Kindeng, and consist of a mix of Arabica varieties: Arusha, Bourbon and Typica.

After the cherries arrive at the mill, they are dried on raised beds and flat surfaces. During the approximately month-long drying process, they are turned several times a day to ensure even, consistent moisture levels. Once the coffee has dried to around 12% moisture content, it is hulled and packed into bags. After a short storage period in a cool, dry warehouse, it is prepared for export. The beans come to us through our longtime partner, Café Imports. We’re delighted to present this coffee again, this time as an espresso roast.
