origin and provenance

The Clydesdale estate was founded in the 18th century by a Briton who fell in love with the Blue Mountain area and decided to settle in Jamaica. Of all the estates, Clydesdale was one of the first to grow coffee, beginning in the 18th century. The beans from this production, exceptional in quality and consistency, were highly prized by European consumers, and the region's great reputation around the world began at that time.
The property's magnificent residence, as well as the tools used to grow the coffee, have become national heritage sites recognized by the Jamaican government. Even after more than 200 years, they remain in perfect condition, although they are no longer in use.
The variety grown is Typica, characterized by a medium-to-low yield and extraordinary aromatic notes in the cup. The common processing method is washed; the coffee is handpicked on steep, hilly terrain. The aromatic notes are typical of the terroir, with a distinct sweetness of vanilla, refined cocoa, enveloping melted butter, and a roasted aftertaste of tobacco and nuts.
