Description

ABOUT THIS COFFEE
This coffee is grown in the Marcala region of Honduras. It is organically grown and is the result of the work of several producers who partner with COMSA (Café Orgánico Marcala), with whom we have collaborated since 2018.
COMSA’s approach is based on sustainability. The cooperative supports producers who want to adopt organic farming, helping them transition from conventional agriculture to more environmentally friendly production.
COMSA’s member producers regularly receive training in coffee tasting and cultivation. The cooperative also subsidizes the education of children in the community to support future generations.
COMSA
Fairtrade certified, fair trade has played a decisive role. Thanks to the premium, producers have received up to $1,500 in annual bonuses and, above all, have been able to invest collectively:
• Establishment of a Montessori-inspired school, open to all children, with or without disabilities
• Funding of scholarships for study abroad
• Establishment of a local banking system
• Modernization of the mill

COMSA dedicates 25% of its revenue to education. The cooperative awards scholarships to the children of producers who belong to the organization, as well as to children in the community whose parents are not producers. Every year, for example, they give English lessons to children.
