Description
The Department of El Progreso is not well known for Guatemalan coffee. But the climate, altitude, and cultivars make this coffee special. This area grows the Bourbon, Caturra, Catuai, and Pache varietals primarily. All solid to excellent in the cup.
SHB is the highest grade of Guatemala coffee, requiring production to be above 1,350 masl. This particular SHB is grown up to 2,000 masl. This, along with cool nights and consistent rainfall, causes the bean to mature more slowly and become denser, sweeter, and more complex. A very solid find!
