Description

Ethiopia has a rich history with coffee. It's commonly known as the birthplace of coffee and has been exporting it, historians believe, since the 1600s. No other country has more varieties of the plant or can offer a wider range of flavors.

Ethiopian coffees are often the perfect bean for those who prefer the lighter side of coffee: fruity and floral notes over earthiness, brighter over bolder.

This one comes from Guji, in the Oromia region of southern Ethiopia, where smallholder farmers grow coffee on plots that average less than five hectares, often alongside food crops for their families. Guji coffees were once lumped in with neighboring Sidamo and Yirgacheffe, but today Guji is recognized as its own distinct region thanks to its local varieties and microclimates. Ripe cherries are hand-picked, then dried on raised beds under shade for 10 to 14 days, turned and sorted by hand along the way.
