Description
Tasting Notes: Blueberry, Orange, Jasmine
Demicha is a village located in the Harsu Haro Muda Kebele. Demicha means honey. The nearest town to this village is Harsu. Similar to the neighboring village of Muda Tatesa, coffee cultivation is new here. The farmers of this village also produce legumes, oats, and barley, but have also introduced maize and intercrop false banana with the newly planted coffee. Due to the village's high altitude and favorable climate, it is an area promising for coffee production.
Coffees in Ethiopia are typically grown on very small plots of land by farmers who also grow other crops. The majority of smallholders will deliver their coffee in cherry to a nearby washing station or central processing unit, where their coffee will be sorted, weighed, and paid for or given a receipt. Coffee is then processed, usually washed or natural, by the washing station and dried on raised beds.
