Description

This coffee is produced in the heart of the Dipilto Mountains, near the border with Honduras. It is grown in sandy soil at an altitude of 1,200 to 1,700 meters. The coffee trees are shade-grown (70% under a variety of tree species), and the soil and plants are fertilized in an environmentally friendly way. This coffee is washed. Only the cherries harvested from the highest part of the farm are wet-processed. The process is fairly traditional: the cherries are pulped, fermented, washed, and then patio-dried. The farm, run by this family, benefits from a microclimate that favors the production of specialty coffees. This producer has competed in the Nicaragua Cup of Excellence several times. In 2014, they rose to second place.
