Description

You’re starting to get to know us: we love a challenge! To keep satisfying your desire to discover new things and to fuel our thirst for exceptional coffee, we now roast Kona coffee from Hawaii.

Hawaii, a dream destination

Some of you are probably discovering that Hawaiian coffee exists. When we think of this island, we imagine palm trees, surfing, and floral shirts. Give exotic and delicious Kona coffee a try.

An island of wonders

The island of Hawaii is part of the United States of America and belongs to an archipelago comprising 137 land masses. Explorer James Cook first named this paradise the Sandwich Islands in 1778. After World War II and the attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii became the 50th U.S. state in 1959. The weather is especially mild, with little temperature variation. The tropical climate alternates between dry and wet seasons, creating perfect conditions for coffee plants to grow. The archipelago is dotted with many volcanoes, some of them active, due to the great instability of the tectonic plates in the area. The Hawaiian people uphold their traditions and uniqueness. Traditional music and dance are recognized around the world. The national sport, surfing, makes fans of spectacular waves dream, to the point that the island has become a pilgrimage destination for enthusiasts.

Hawaii, a land for coffee

This little gem of land in the middle of the Pacific Ocean is far from the shores of the U.S., Japan, and Australia. Of course, you might think that the island is completely isolated. In fact, this piece of land is highly prized by tourists and travelers for its undeniable geographic qualities. Indeed, the island of Hawaii benefits from a high-pressure system from May through September. The sun is therefore very intense. The volcanic soil allows exceptional coffee plants to grow at an elevation of 450 meters. The rainy season brings the water needed to grow coffee. Sugarcane is also widely cultivated here, and the archipelago is the world’s second-largest producer.

How about a cup of Kona coffee from Hawaii?

Whether you prefer ground coffee or are a coffee bean expert, it’s always nice to try a new cup. Kona coffee offers you extraordinary aromatic notes.

The pleasure of exceptional coffee

We already offer several exceptional whole bean coffees, such as Jamaican Blue Mountain, Yemen’s Mocca, and Panama Boquete Guarrido. Our work as artisan roasters leads us to regularly choose new treasures. Although we make a point of seeking out new organic and fair trade varieties first, some conventional coffees deserve our attention. We didn’t want to miss out on Kona, which is why it now has a place in our finest selection. To offer the best coffee possible, we ensure optimal freshness for our regular customers.

Kona, the latest wonder from French roasters

It took eight years of roasting before we began working with the island of Hawaii. It must be said that not all artisan roasters offer Kona. Our regular customers are eager to explore new horizons, so we’re delighted to have it now. Kona grows in full sun, then it is washed and naturally sun-dried. This technique respects the cherries and allows the crop to mature naturally. The caramel aromas are preserved, resulting in a pleasant, lingering finish.

Characteristics of Hawaiian Kona coffee:
