Description
100% Arabica Caturra/Catuai (washed)
Rio Jorco Farm is located in the heart of the Tarrazu region, just a few miles from San Jose. It takes its name from the river of the same name that flows through the region. With a tradition dating back to the 19th century, this farm is one of the oldest in all of Costa Rica. Brothers Luis and Jim Alfaro aim to produce the best coffee their country has to offer. Today, Rio Jorco comprises eight farms and 83 small-scale farmers. At an altitude of 1,700 meters, surrounded by volcanoes, the cherries ripen especially slowly thanks to the somewhat cooler Pacific winds. The harvest is traditionally done by hand, and care is always taken during processing to conserve resources and recycle water.
